IF it can be repaired for 3000 fair enough, but I'd go for more, its not your insurers that will be paying, they'll get it back from the womans insurance anyway, Tell them to buy you a replacment C110 (in similar condition) for £4000 and see how long it takes them to say 'there aren't any'

Even if they agree the value half way at 6, it would mean the car didn't get Cat D'd presumably as they'd just spend the 3500 themselves getting it repaired.

You shouldn't be out of pocket in all this, the stress of seeing the carnage is bad enough.

Tell em what a 240z in that condition/mileage would be worth then tell them how many C110s there are left compared to 240zs.

Actually, just reading that has made me think....
I don't think I actually WANT it to be repaired by their recommended company - they will be under pressure to get it done quickly and I certainly don't want it to be pulled out roughly straight and then packed with filler!!!
Effectively my own time costs very little and I can spend some hours doing prep work before getting in someone to finish the job nicely. I can also get the vinyl roof sorted out as well and perhaps get a full re-spray so it's all the same colour!!

you gonna lose the vinyl roof then?
3grand should get it fixed as long as you do a lot of the work i'd have thought.
2grand for final prep and respray, plus grand for parts.
still it's not fair that you should have to do work. but still better then a total loss.
whatever i'd be damn annoyed

"whatever i'd be damn annoyed"

....yeh, bit miffed!!
The vinyl roof has gone all brittle and is peeling off in places, so it needs fixing. Not sure yet whether to put a new vinyl on as it doesn't look quite right at the rear in my opinion - the lines don't fit right behind the back doors

Have spent a couple of hours searching for examples that have sold recently...

Good condition car in Austria, stored last 10 years and seizing up - sold to Kuwait - asking price 15000 euro

Absolute wreck of a coupe, sat outside for years, restorable but very rusty and NO good trim at all - 999 Oz dollars (about 600 quid)

Think i'll ask for the insurers to consider another thousand and see what happens - just want enough cash to ensure the car looks as good as before - and that's a lot of skilled-work-hours

Sorry, no parts help available from here
First of all, we only got 2D-HT here and second new panels are impossible.
Maybe Arabia/Kuwait? Remember the Dutch man who was here in Flnland also, he has sold some rare panels to Finland
But the dents can be repaired, the car looks bad but far from impossible. The door is a piece of cake. Might even be an idea to take it to Estonia or Poland for repair? And I mean it! Even Finnish vintage cars are now being restored in Estonia due to labour costs

"Might even be an idea to take it to Estonia or Poland for repair?"

Now that, my friend, is a good idea :D The car is still perfectly driveable... road trip + holiday + get my baby repaired. I might have to look into the time/costs involved.

I have a feeling that no new or unused panels exist for these cars now. I will have a go at straightening the original metal, but also considering importing a spares car from Australia - but that really depends on whether it would be cost effective (ish)

I have his number but he isn't picking up the phone. He might be on holiday so I can't check if he still has some C110 parts left. There was no rear wing there that I know for sure. I went to see him a long time ago to check his stock. I'll keep trying to find out what is still there.

Iwan and 'Sunny76'
Thank you for trying to contact this chap.
If he does have some C110 parts I would be very interested, whatever parts they are. Does he own a C110 himself ?

Today we reached a deal to compensate for the damage to the rear corner. The car is NOT written off and I have a 'cash' sum coming equivalent to the estimated cost of repairs that was quoted by the insurer's repairer... enough to make a tidy job I reckon :D

Now to start the whole same process again for the door

The guy is a 280ZX owner who bought a joblot of parts including non-Z stuff a long time ago. I don't want to get your hopes up as it has been some time ago I saw his stock and I don't know at all what is still left. I will do my best for you. Still no answer on the phone there.

Sorry, not got very good news I am affraid.

Finally managed to get in contact with him and he has already sold the whole lot of C110 parts to a guy from Germany.
I will try to find out who, because from what I heard he might be a bit of a trader besides owning cars.

Wish I could have helped but I will keep looking out for you.

Hi Mark,

Just noticed this thread, what a complete nightmare :banghead:

As a fellow C110 owner I can certainly feel your pain, worse scenario possible, especially with the door incident to top things off!

I will be alarming my garage now just in case you get desperate :)

Although my car is no where near as original as yours, its more than bits of metal and paint its the rareness of the cars that makes them special.

Mine was damaged in the same area as yours (not as bad, but to repair as you say with such thin metal, it is very difficult to fix)

I think for the panel the only chance you have is to find a contact in Japan. It appears that everyone is doing there best to help you though.

Having seen the car in the metal, I can certainly see why you want to get the car repaired.

Good luck with it and I will keep my eyes and ears open for any possible leads to parts.

Hi Dave,
thanks for your reply.
I agree that everyone is being very helpful :)
If I do end up finding a "spares car" or get hold of any other parts then I will certainly be giving you a call to find out if there's anything you can use
Hope all is going well with yours and that you receive much better luck when you do get it onto the road again!!!!

Hi Mark,

I have had this link for some time now, have a look. http://www.c110-skyline.com/index.html

It's a bit of a mecca for everything C110, If you can translate the Japanese you may be able to get a contact and some much needed parts. Just keep clicking the links.

Give it a try.
